This top is the natural colour of Gotland sheep. The breed was established on the Swedish island of Gotland by the Vikings and first brought to the UK in 1972 where their numbers have continued to grow, popular for their skeins and fleeces as well as their meat.
Gotland sheep wool is known for its fine, long, lustrous locks and comes in a range of shades from silver to charcoal grey. The wool is soft, smooth, and has a silky feel, making it ideal for various woolly crafts.
Gotland wool takes dye beautifully, producing vibrant colours.
The wool fibres typically range from 27 to 34 microns, providing a fine yarn suitable for knitting and felting
