If you want a simple project or to try out our Ryeland yarn, this is for you.  I have hand dyed our local Ryeland double knit yarn in a range of bright variegated colours to cheer up any cold day. It makes a lovely gift to a knitter friend too.   This kit does not come with needles,  If you need some knitting needles (the pattern requires a set of double pointed needles in size 4mm), please choose the Kit with needles.
 
The yarn comes from the  fleeces of a local Ryeland sheep flock which we buy and have commercially spun.  Ryeland sheep are one of our oldest British sheep breeds and were the gold standard against which other fleeces were compared in the Middle Ages.  It became a rare breed in the 20th Century but as it's become a popular breed for smallholders and hobby farmers, its numbers have recovered - thankfully.
