Woolplay announces it will be at KNIT + STITCH Harrogate this November

Woolplay, a small independent business located on a smallholding at the Suffolk/Norfolk border, is thrilled to announce it will be at Knit + Stitch in Harrogate from 18^th to 22^nd November.

Founded in 2024 by Claire Powell, Woolplay highlights the beauty and versatility of wool sourced from British sheep breeds. With a growing collection of yarns and fibres sourced from its rare breed flock as well as other local flocks, Woolplay aims to inspire creativity and encourage the enjoyment of working with natural materials rather than simply consuming them.

The Woolplay stand will be bursting with yarns and fibres to squish and inspire, all of which will be from British sheep and processed by British based mills.  The breeds on sale are those best suited to wool crafts.  There will be sample packs of yarns and fibres from sheep of the Waveney valley where Woolplay is based as well as natural dyed yarns dyed by Claire from those same flocks.

Claire Powell stated: “What began with our small flock of rare breed sheep has transformed into a journey of rediscovery. Woolplay is for those who wish to support British wool and appreciate the mindful process of making. We are committed to celebrating the wonderful materials that come from our countryside and promoting creativity be it through spinning, knitting, weaving, or simply enjoying the feel of a skein of yarn.”

Woolplay’s diverse collection of yarns and fibres is fully traceable, sourced from British farms and processed at British mills. In addition to their own Leicester Longwool sheep, they collaborate with several local flocks to provide wool from Ryeland, Jacob, Zwartbles, Llanwenog, Dorset Down and Norfolk Horn, alongside carefully selected fibres from trusted British mills.
