These are the yarns from our own flock of rare breed Leicester Longwool sheep. 

Now an at risk rare breed, Leicester Longwool sheep were hugely important in the  history of livestock development.  In  the 18th century Robert Bakewell took the existing Leicester breed and by crossing it with the Lincoln and Ryeland breeds was able to create the new Leicester Longwool breed.

Their fleeces demostrate the usual characteristics of longwools - long curly locks, fabulous lustre. silky smooth when spun, creating a gorgeous drapy yarn.

 

We stock our yarn in 4 ply and aran weights and in both undyed and naturally dyed shades.  Aran natural dyed yarn will be available soon.
